JAPAN - short encounters with tourists in shrines
During a two weeks trip to japan at the peak of the cherry blossom season I have met many local tourists. Japanese groups and individuals from all over the country have come to explore, pray and admire the sacred sites.
The taking of the photograph as an inseparable part of the experience of presence in those tourist attractions has grasped my attention and inspired me to take part in this modern phenomena.
If a person visited a shrine, and did not take a photo of himself with the shrine. Was he ever there?
The letters and numbers represent locations on maps in Lonely Planet and in local maps distributed on sites.
