Susan Lipski's Photo Album
16  images created with artificial intelligence based on texts written by Meir Agassi

Meir Agassi (1947-1998) was a multifaceted artist, writer, poet, and art critic. Among his artistic explorations, he created fictional characters through whom he produced unique works of art. One such character was Susan Lipski, an artist, photographer, and avid collector of photographs she found in flea markets around the world during her travels.

In 1997, Susan Lipski created a “photo” album titled Portrait of a Female Mannequin with a Macintosh and a Homburg. This album contained 16 detailed verbal descriptions of family photographs she had collected, along with handwritten notes on the backs of the photos.

For the exhibition A Window to a Dream of Beauty - The Meir Agassi Retrospective at the Mishkan Museum of Art in Ein Harod (2024), I was invited to produce a work in dialogue with his body of work.

I chose Susan Lipski’s album as my focus, meticulously transforming each of the 16 verbal descriptions into visual images using artificial intelligence.

The photographs are displayed alongside the original texts written by Meir Agassi (under the persona of Susan Lipski).
